Do you live in a city, county, or HOA that has a limit on the number of animals allowed in your home?
What is the limit? Are there breed restrictions?
Please provide all contact numbers for adults in your home and name for each:
Are there any children in the home? If so, how many and what ages?
Do you currently have pets? If so, what type and how many?
Are all of your pets up to date on shots?
Are all of your dogs spayed/neutered?
Do you keep collars and tags on your pets at home and all other times?
Are you aware that we cannot guarantee the safety of other small pets and animals?
DASH is an Australian Shepherd rescue and we are striving to primarily rescue only Aussies and very close/similar mixes. Our dogs are highly adoptable and are often only in foster homes a SHORT TIME. We often get owner-surrendered dogs where the dog was NOT the issue (moving, no time, divorce) and then we know the history – these dogs REALLY need to get their “new forever” started quickly, as do strays who have been living in a home several weeks already and are healthy, housebroken and also ready for Forever to Begin. However, the dogs that come in from rural shelters, who have been temperament-tested and assessed for good dispositions are the ones who need LOTS of TLC. They probably need crate-training, housebreaking and learning to walk on leashes. This is what FOSTERS are all about. And when we decide to save another shepherd mix or breed mix they need love, too. So please consider all of these factors when checking choices below. What dogs do you prefer to care for (please check all that apply):
Small Adult Dogs - under 20 lbs
Baby Puppies - 6 weeks to 16 weeks
Older Puppies - 4-6 months
Nursing Mom with Puppies
Medium Adult Dogs - 20-40 lbs
Large Adult Dogs - 40-65 lbs (Aussies are usually within this range, they may be larger if mixed with Pyrenees to Golden Retriever which are popular mixes.
What ages?
Under 1 year
1-3 years
3-6 years
Over 6 years
No Preference
Would you consider fostering multiple dogs, such as a bonded pair?
Where will your foster be kept during the day?
How many hours a day will the foster dog be left alone?
Do you have any special training or enrichment activities an Aussie would enjoy?
Are you willing to foster a litter until they are all adopted?
If yes, how many litter-mates do you think you could handle? We often get calls for puppies 6-8 weeks old who will need 2 weeks of fostering; there could be 2, 3, 4, 5 littermates – let us know what you can handle and we can divide them between fosters:
How high is your fence?
What material is it made of?
Does it have any holes or other areas where a dog can tunnel out?
Do you have a doggie door?
Do you have a swimming pool/spa? If so, is it fenced?
Are dogs ever left outdoors unattended?
As a foster for DASH Dog Rescue I agree that I will:

I understand that I must comply with the following adoption protocol (please check):
I understand that all foster dogs must be scheduled for needed medical treatment (altering, vaccinations, microchip, testing, etc) at one of the DASH approved veterinarians.
I will respect DASH's decision to determine whether a foster parent can adopt a foster animal.
I will contact the Adoption Applicant the same day I receive their application with an email or text to let them know I received the app & will be in touch with in 24 hours.
Adoptable dogs are not given “a trial period” unless approved by a DASH Director.
Dogs are officially adopted and fees are paid for AT THE TIME OF ADOPTION; there is always the option to go to the www.dashdog.org website and pay online; DASH does not have a paper checking-account and we do not accept checks.
Adoptive parents will be informed DASH will always accept the animal back but that no refunds are given.
I understand that any breach of the conditions of this foster care agreement may result in immediate termination of this agreement. In that case, DASH shall take immediate possession of the fostered dog (s).
